The Dixie Chapter Overnight excursion to Blue Ridge, GA
and surrounding areas. May 30 - June 1, 2014

Early Saturday morning the gathering point for the start of the "Overnighter" was Canton, GA.  With a total of 13 cars and 28 members & guests we headed north for Blue Ridge, GA to board the Blue Ridge Scenic Rail Road for McCaysville, GA & Copper Hill, TN.

We board the Blue Ridge Scenic Rail Road for a one-hour trip through the late spring Blue Ridge Mountains through some of the most picturesque landscape in the stateTracks in this area were laid in 1886 and this railroad has been a central part of the town's history ever since.  The route follows the Toccoa River with much to see - such as the pre-historic fish trap built by early primitive tribes settling the area.  To McCaysville

After breakfast, on to Dawsonville, GA and the Georgia Racing Hall Of Fame and the Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery

The planned "Overnighter" activities ended following lunch near the Dawsonville Outlet Mall which gave those who so desired the opportunity to "shop till you drop" - so to speak
